Intended Use of the Abbott i-STAT 1 Blood Gas Machine:
Cardiac Markers:
cTnI Test: It measures cardiac troponin I (cTnI) levels in whole blood or plasma to help assess heart muscle damage.
CK-MB Test: It measures creatine kinase MB mass in whole blood or plasma that helps in diagnosing and treating heart attacks.
BNP Test: It measures B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels in whole blood or plasma using EDTA as an anticoagulant. It helps diagnose and evaluate the severity of congestive heart failure.
Coagulation:
ACT Kaolin Test: It uses fresh whole blood to monitor high-dose heparin anticoagulation that commonly used in cardiovascular surgery.
ACT Celite® Test: It monitors heparin treatment for pulmonary embolism or venous thrombosis and anticoagulation therapy during medical procedures like catheterization, cardiac surgery, organ transplant, and dialysis.
PT/INR Test: This measures prothrombin time to monitor patients on oral anticoagulation therapy, such as Coumadin® or warfarin.
